Hunter Holt

Assistant Professor, Education Department, Muhlenberg College

Hunter Holt is an Assistant Professor in the Education Department at Muhlenberg College. As a historian of U.S. education, he researches interactions between schools, policy, and metropolitan spaces. He is currently working on a book manuscript that examines the history of development, schools, and wealth in Williamson County, Tennessee. His research has appeared in the edited volumes Schooling the Movement: The Activism of Southern Black Educators from Reconstruction through the Civil Rights Movement and Handbook of Critical Education Research: Qualitative, Quantitative, and Emerging Approaches. He received his Ph.D. in the Social Foundations of Education program at the University of Virginia under the guidance of Dr. Derrick Alridge. Prior to his doctoral studies, he worked as the Program Coordinator for the Mississippi Teacher Corps and taught high school science at West Point High School in West Point, Mississippi. He also holds an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Mississippi and a B.A. in English from the University of Alabama.
